We started off in the dairy industry in 1993 and have now undertaken projects as a specialist engineering contractor in every segment of the dairy, food and beverage processing chain across the region. Having been engaged by every major manufacturer and process consultant / capital equipment company over the past 25 years for plant upgrades and greenfield /brownfield projects.

Water Treatment
Our water projects range from plant upgrades, CMF modules to complete construction of new water treatment facilities.
Over the past 15 years the water industry has grown to be a significant part of our business primarily engaged as a mechanical installation / piping contractor with projects undertaken afar as Bamaga Cape York, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.

Pharmaceutical & Healthcare
Through our expertise in sanitary piping systems we were engaged by GSK to provide general piping fabrication for there Port Fairy morphine faciilty in 2001.
Since that time we have been engaged in several pharmaceutical and healthcare projects across the country and in Singapore utilising robotic orbital welding for the majority of installations.

Energy, Oil & Gas
Thorburn have been involved in primarily the liquefied natural gas industry for the past 15 years as a piping, pipeline and process module fabricator.

We have been involved in projects for Santos, Inpex, Bechtel, Exxon PNG, Fluor and AMEC Foster Wheeler.
Power Generation
We undertook our first power station project for Alinta Energy in 2002 for critical steam and condensate water line replacement, Since that time we have been involved in a number of power station projects across the country either directly for the owner or as a contractor to engineering consultants / project directors.

Mining & Resources
Our services to the mining / resources industries are generally as a 2nd tier contractor providing mechanical, general maintenance and piping services.
